Johnny Depp might have to brush up on the basics of time and space travel. The Pirates of the Caribbean actor has reportedly been tapped to play The Doctor in a big-screen adaptation of the long-running British sci-fi series Doctor Who.

According to sources, the movie is being written by former Doctor Who showrunner Russell T. Davies, and is slated for release in 2012. Davies and series producer Julie Gardner left the BBC show in 2008 for Los Angeles, and Davies has since revealed that one of the reasons for the relocation was the possibility of bringing Doctor Who to the big screen:

“Bringing the Who franchise to the theaters is a regeneration for the character beyond the usual one. A theatrical release has a greater range and can reach millions of more people than just the fans. There will be brand new concepts and the film will be just as adventurous, scary and humorous as the television programme. But none of us working the film will forget what makes the character great and interesting and the long-time fans will not be disappointed because yes, the [extraterrestrial] Daleks make an appearance.”

If Depp is really making an appearance as well, they just might have a hit on their hands.

Now that Larry King has announced that his show, Larry King Live, will end after a 25 year run, everyone is buzzing about who is going to replace the interview king.

One name that is getting floated around? Well, we just hope that Elisabeth Hasselbeck isn’t reading this: CNN is reportedly talking to The View’s Joy Behar to take over Larry King’s time slot.

Joy already has a show on a CNN-linked network, HLN, and the show has been preforming fairly well. However, Larry isn’t pleased with the pick and is publicly throwing his support behind Ryan Seacrest.

No offense to Ryan but doesn’t he already have, um, 14 hosting jobs? The guy’s schedule is already pretty packed.

After playing Dunder Mifflin regional manager Michael Scott for the last six years, Steve Carell will not be returning to “The Office” after his contract expires next season. According to People Magazine:

“I just think it’s time,” he said at the premiere of his new movie, Despicable Me, Sunday in L.A. “When I first signed on I had a contract for seven seasons, and this coming year is my seventh. I just thought it was time for my character to go.”

“[This might] add some new life and some new energy to the show. [The writers] have incorporated so many new characters and so many new, great storylines that I have no doubt it’ll continue as strong, if not stronger than ever.”

I can’t imagine the Scranton branch dynamic without Steve Carell. It just seems wrong. But like Michael Scott said, “There comes a time when the Daddy cannot take a bath with the kids anymore, as much as he might want to.” I’m sure this was really hard on everyone. *sniff* That’s what she said!
